TMMK welcomes SC judgement on Babri Masjid case

Chennai: Tamilnadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam (TMMK) has welcomed the interim orders passed today by the Supreme Court in the Babri Masjid case whereby the apex court stayed the September 30, 2010 land division verdict of Allahabad High Court in the Babri Masjid/Ram Janambhoomi title suit.
“TMMK welcomes the observations of the Supreme Court terming the September 30 Judgement of the Allahabad High Court’s Lucknow Bench as strange. We also appreciate the stand of the apex court that the division of the disputed property into three parts has opened a litany of litigations,” said Prof. M.H. Jawahirullah, president, TMMK.
“The observations of the Supreme Court have only vindicated the opinion expressed by a number of legal luminaries -- some of whom described the Lucknow Bench’s judgement as a panchayati judgement. The observations of the Supreme Court have reinforced the belief in judiciary. We appeal that the Supreme Court should expeditiously hear the case and deliver its final verdict soon,” Prof. Jawahirullah said in a statement today.
