Jayalalithaa refuses to speculate on poll outcome, comment on Kanimozhi


Chennai, May 9 :Opposition AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalithaa today refused to speculate on the outcome of the April 13 Assembly elections, counting of which, is scheduled for May 13.
Ms Jayalalithaa, who returned here this afternoon after holidaying in Kodanadu hill station, declined to speculate on the outcome of the poll results.

''Let the results come on May 13 and I will talk to you after that,'' she said in a brief chat with newspersons at the airport, on her return by a special flight from Coimbatore.

Later, talking to reporters at her Poes Garden residence, Ms Jayalalithaa expressed satisfaction over the arrangements made by the Election Commission for counting of the votes.

''The EC has made elaborate security arrangements and we are satisfied with them. We are very happy about the arrangements', she added.

Ms Jayalalithaa also refused to comment on DMK defending its MP Kanimozhi, who had appeared before the CBI special court in connection with the 2G spectrum case.

Stating that the mattter is before the court, she said the CBI court has reserved its order for May 14 on the bail plea of Ms Kanimozhi. ''I will prefer to reserve my comments till the court pronounces its verdict on April 14.

On the CBI opposing Kanimozhi's bail plea, Ms Jayalalithaa said ''the court is seized of the matter. The court has heard the arguments. I will wait for May 14.'' Asked what was her target, a smiling Ms Jayalalitha said, ''you will know what my target is after the election results are out on May 13.'' Ms Jayalalithaa, who was accompanied by her close aide Sasikala, was given a rousing reception by senior AIADMK leaders at the airport.

Senior party leaders, including E Madhusoodanan, O Panneerselvam, K A Sengottaiyan, Sulochana Sampath and Saidai Duraisamy were among those who welcomed Ms Jayalalithaa.
