Reiterating its concern that black money is being earned from drug trafficking and terrorist activities, the Supreme court on Thursday came down heavily on the government with regard to its probe on the black money issue.

"You say different agencies are looking into the issue. Till now what these agencies were doing? Are they sleeping?" the apex court said.

The Supreme court also criticized the government for focusing only on Pune-based stud farm owner Hasan Ali, who is alleged to have stashed away over eight billion dollars in Swiss banks.

"Only one person on this country has an account in Switzerland. No other Indian has an account? You are working from 2009. What information do you have?" asked the court.

A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed in the apex court asking for the government to be held accountable for recovering black money.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Hasan Ali, who also has been accused of forging documents to acquire multiple passports, in Mumbai on the night of March 7 under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
